I’ve heard a lot of recommendations about Book Zoo, a small shop on Telegraph Ave. in Oakland, and particularly about the people who run it. The words “manic,” “crazy,” and “obsessive” were dropped, “in a good way,” I was promised.
Does a tv stand exist that’s not opressively ugly, and still functional in all the right ways? I hope so. I’ve already lost nearly a month to this quest.

In the summer of 2009, I was a Bloomberg fellow with the Carnegie-Knight News21 initiative, a cool program that funds experimental journalism by student reporters.
I served as lead designer and front-end/Flash developer for this 360-degree panorama about one intersection in Oakland.
